We have a variety of canine teams in our group, providing a wide range of resources that we can deploy depending on the situation. There are three main groups of search canines; Air Scent, Trailing, and Human Remains Detection. Some of our canines are even cross trained. These canines are trained to locate any human scent in a specified search area.
- Air Scent canines detect microscopic particles that are released from the human body and carried through environmental factors. This type of canine team can clear large areas such as a sub-urban park, acres of woods, or a large building.
- Trailing canines are scent specific, they can determine direction of travel and follow a trail from the last place seen or from an article found. Canine trailing handlers require a scent article from the missing person.
- Human Remains Detection canines are specifically trained to detect human remains, whether above, or buried; in a wilderness, urban, building or disaster environment. These canine teams work with law enforcement to assist in recovery and closure.
